Hounslow Wolves v Seshfield
25th November 2021
Hounslow Wolves XI 1-0 Seshfield
The Hounslow Wolves XI revolution continued on Sunday with the 3rd win in 3 weeks, however this doesn’t tell the whole story.
Wolves turned up prompt as usual, keen and well drilled. Standards were as high as always and there was continued high optimism. Seshfield turned up in drips and drabs and didn’t look like they wanted to be here. From the 1st minute, it was clear to see Wolves would dominate, and Manager Deanos’ request of “ Making a Statement” was clearly going to happen…….
The reality is it didn’t. Wolves were a shadow of what we see in training. There was glimpses of inspiration. Raj and Harj showed why they are highly thought of, Anil showed some tidy little touches and Mo composed as ever at the back. Keeper Kieren looked composed and new signing Prince looked like a breath of fresh air, but as a team we were simply sub standard. There is no beating around the bush – it was a flat, heartless performance. To think about making 4 subs after 20 minutes tells you all you need to know.
That aside, an excellently taken goal from Mo gave Wolves a 1-0 victory, but this should have been 8 or 9. When your CB asks to go upfront for 5 minutes to change the game, something must be wrong. The team all know they can offer more. If Wolves want to win titles, these games need to be put to bed. Seshfield must be thinking they could have drawn and that it was us who were there for the taking. We wont play an easier team all season. A special mention to Arjun who came on to make a real difference in the game and create some chances.
This is reality. The squad has huge potential but it also has huge depth and players wont be carried again. We will either rise and take the criticism or we will crumble and want to just make up the numbers. Next week will tell.
